Biddle Cottage

What an auspicious day at Biddle Cottage! When family documents were put out for display it was found that the original land grant to James Biddle was dated 18th May 1855, 170 years ago to the day! Twenty-six participants had a great day, grading and stacking loose rocks on to pallets and sorting slates as they came off the roof. The extended Chapman clan were there to do the serious work, and the children helped, de-nailing timber and sorting rocks until Brun and Jay brought out their metal detectors and conducted a workshop/ treasure hunt in the grounds. Roxanne Chapman organized an amazing morning tea and sausage sizzle lunch so there was plenty of time for people to get to know each other. Stonemason Jed Masters spoke about plans for the stonework and Robyn Taylor explained the process of making lime mortar so there are a number of participants eager to come back and help with the reconstruction work. Thank you everyone for coming along and making it such a great day.
