Lykke's store Myponga

William Lykke first ran a store in the Myponga Hotel. When Deviation Road was opened in 1929, he built and ran the General Store Myponga from about 1933 until 1953. He was the owner at the time that the 1936 Centenary Gardens were planted and he looked after them. His niece, Mrs. Aline Ortis and her husband took over the General Store in 1953 and ran it until 1975 when the E & W S forced its closure.
