Myponga Hall

90 Main South Road, Myponga

On 26 July 1890 a public meeting was held to consider the building of an institute at Myponga, and the meeting was informed that land had been promised by the South Australian Company. The land was conveyed to trustees the following year and on 18 May 1892 the hall was officially opened.

Improvements were made in 1902 and again in 1924. Then in 1937 two cloak rooms and a foyer were added to the front of the building and two dressing rooms at the back of the stage. A supper room was added to the southern side of the hall and above the foyer a cinematic projector was fitted and films could be shown on the stage curtain. Most of the work was done by volunteers under the direction local builder Cyril Pearce. The renovated hall was opened in 1938.
