Normanville store

48 Main St, Normanville

January 1856 Robert Norman agreed to sell lot 12 Normanville to Charles Dinham, the agreement being that Dinham was to build 'a good and substantial brick and stone building of the value of seventy five pounds at the least' before 19 January 1857, and that Norman would supply Dinham up to 20 thousand bricks for the building of the store. The store was built and lot 12 was conveyed to Dinham for £200. However, Dinham soon got into financial difficulties and in 1859 the store was gutted by fire in suspicious circumstances. The building was insured. In December 1859 Dinham sold the property to J.W. Heathcote and C.A. Mather for £500.

Later storekeepers included Alfred Limbert (1864), Frederick Hannaford (1868), Mrs Cornish (1876), and her daughter Rosina Cornish (1886), who married local identity R.B.Clark in 1898.
